Selon les différentes estimations, la Finlande compte entre 1200 et 1500 ours bruns (Usus Arctos) répartis sur la quasi totalité du territoire. Au nombre de 400 seulement en 1970, leur nombre a augmenté suite au flux important d’ours en provenance de Carélie russe à partir des années 1990. Espèce non menacée – contrairement au loup (250 individus) ou au glouton (150) – le chasser est autorisé dans la moitié nord et à l’est du pays.

In Finland, there’s around 1,200 and 1,500 brown bears (Ursus Arctos), according to various estimates, spread over almost the entire territory. There were only about 400 individuals in 1970. The sharp increase is linked to an important flow of bears from Russian Karelia since the 1990s. This species is not threatened – unlike the wolf (250 individuals) or the wolverine (150) – so hunting it is allowed in the northern half and the east of the country.

Une semaine à Paljakka – Kainuu / A week at Paljakka – Kainuu

Après avoir travaillé à Loma Vietonen, près de Rovaniemi, pendant plus d’un mois, je passe par Paljakka rendre visite à la famille Schwarz.  J’ai effectué mon premier stage dans cette maison d’hôtes située à proximité d’une réserve naturelle du Kainuu. La nature environnante est remarquablement préservée et propose une variété de paysages impressionnante (forêt primaire, lacs et rivières, tourbières)  et une faune omniprésente.

After working nearby Rovaniemi for over a month at Loma Vietonen, I go to Paljakka visit the Schwarz family. I did my first internship at this guest house located near a Kainuu nature reserve. The surrounding nature is remarkably preserved and offers a variety of impressive landscapes (primary forest, lakes and rivers, bogs) with an omnipresent fauna.
